On 4 July, the Tower of Gaia at GaiaZOO was extended with a specially designed balustrade. On it are images and information referring to the sights that can be seen from the viewpoint. The premise is to encourage tourists and recreationists present in the region to explore the area further. That way, during their stay or day out, they will be enticed to come back to Parkstad again and also visit the other attractions, heritage and sights. The Kerkrade Botanical Garden will also be displayed on the balustrade. During the grand opening on Friday 13 September, alderman Tim Weijers (municipality of Kerkrade) gave a speech about this unique regional cooperation and our chairman Huub Wiermans received a matching plaque to give a nice spot in the garden, offeredby Municipality of Kerkrade, Visit Zuid-Limburg, This is Parkstad and GaiaZOO.
